SUNDARA KARMA: THE ONE WHERE I WENT SOLO

27/04/2019

So recently I did a lil thing, well actually quite a big thing for me. I went to see Sundara Karma by myself! I’m not sure what came over me but a few months ago I had this wave of independence where I was like ‘ah f*ck it, just go sis’. I see people on Instagram going to gigs by themselves all the time so if they can do it, I can right!?

The gig sold out literally a day or two after I bought my ticket so I actually had to go by myself… I won’t lie, I did nearly bail and I put my ticket up for sale on the event Facebook group but they’re a band I’ve wanted to see for ages and I wanted to go to and prove to myself that I could go it alone, so I took down the advert for the ticket and I bloody went!

I felt a bit out of place when I first got there because it was still quite early on and the venue hadn’t fully packed out yet so I was bopping solo to the support acts. But as soon as Sundara Karma came on I literally chucked all cares out the window and had the best time. I chatted to a few people around me and had a lil boogie.

I’m dead proud of myself that I went, it was quite daunting beforehand but there was literally nothing to be worried about. Nobody cared that I was doing my own solo thing and neither did I.

Moral of the story: if the idea of doing something scares you a bit, just go and do it. You’ll feel great about yourself once you’ve done it! In life you regret the things you didn’t do, not the ones you do.

All the love,

Fiery Goddess xo

GIG: THE 1975

06/03/2019

So this post is slightly belated, but never late than never am I right?

I went to see The 1975 at the end of January at Sheffield Arena and it was insane. I was dead excited as they’re a band I’ve wanted to see for a long time. You know those bands/artists where you forget how much you like them until you whack one of their albums on? To me, The 1975 were one of them.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to an arena gig, I think the last one I went to was Drake at the O2 in 2017. I’ve been to a lot of gigs since but in smaller, more intimate venues. Most have been local to me in Nottingham, I went to Liverpool to see Jorja Smith last year. Me and a mate drove there and back in a day, it was about a 7 hour round trip. Totally worth it. She’s fabulous.

The 1975 gig was so much more than I expected, everything about the night was UNREAL. First of all our seats were mint, we were sat down the side in the middle. The set was bloody amaze mate, Matty was on a giant treadmill whilst they performed Sincerity Is Scary. Actual workout goals. I’ll admit that ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ isn’t my fave album of theirs, but they played all the hits from all 3 albums. We sang all night, the vibe was bloody brilliant. It was a night I’m not going to forget to a long ode time.

Whilst we’re here, I may as well share the outfit I wore on the night. I always dress differently depending on the genre of music I’m off to see, it’s not intentional but I love choosing a gig outfit.

I was going to charity shop these culottes a couple of months ago, I’m glad I didn’t as I always seem to wear them now. They’re handy to chuck on on a bloated or comfy day, you feel me gals?
